Make Time to Listen to the “Whisper”

Last night, I had the pleasure of seeing Hoda Kotbe interview Melinda French Gates at the beautiful Auditorium Theater in Chicago.  The discussion offered many keen insights, but one from Hoda really stood out.

She talked about “paying attention to the whisper” – that voice within that quietly, repeatedly tells you you’re ready for change or renewal or expansion.  When she notices the whisper more than once, she pays attention and makes time to be still.  She reflects, journals, and observes what’s happening around her and what captures her focus.  Once she’s defined what that whisper is urging her toward – in one case, it was to adopt a child at the age of 50 – she shares it with friends and advisors.  This crystallizes her vision and moves her into action.

I love this notion of “the whisper” and exploring what it holds, trusting the invitation to listen to what is calling us forward.  Each of us has potential to unleash and dreams to realize.  If you’re hearing a whisper of your own, make the time to listen to it.  Something extraordinary could be on your horizon.

And if you might benefit from an objective sounding board to support your exploration, reach out to me.  Vision work is a cornerstone of my practice and I’d love to help you shape your future.
